Frequently Asked Questions

At Jacque’s Dance Expressions, our teachers understand that each student participates and learns at his/her own developmental rate. We offer a year-round program of instruction at all levels for all ages, as well as a variety of seasonal shows, conventions, and master classes to help build confidence in their growing skills. We stress proper technique and basics while keeping in mind that hard work can and should be fun. We encourage our dancers to feel part of a larger dance community and encourage them to develop individual goals, self-respect, and discipline while working together as a team.

We offer classes for dancers from 18 months to adults.

We offer a variety of technique classes in several dance styles. Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, Dance Conditioning (PBT), and Competition classes are offered to provide a well-rounded fitness experience for all dancers. We also provide preschool musical movement.

We offer classes throughout the day. Many of the classes offered during the mornings are for adults or preschoolers. Classes after school and in the evening are for school-age dancers and adults. We try to offer a flexible class schedule so that classes are available for everyone.

We like to group dancers in developmentally appropriate levels. Preschoolers will be grouped with preschoolers, early elementary will be grouped with early elementary, etc. There are age differences in our intermediate to advanced classes, due to levels

We are confident that we have dance classes that you will be excited about, however, we do encourage potential students to try a class before committing. It is important to both the dancer and parent to check for a proper “fit” when choosing a dance studio and classes.

Children can start classes whenever they show an interest.

Yes, all parents are encouraged to stay and watch class. Jacque’s Dance Expressions has bleacher seating throughout the waiting room and all classes may be viewed from the waiting room. We invite parents and care givers in to class periodically to watch students perform, we encourage the students to work on their performance skills as well as their technique.

Dance is a performing art for both males and females. There are usually more girls at nearly every dance studio, however, when encouraged male dancers find this art form as rewarding and athletic as any sport.

We will offer classes for boys only as the need arises. Many of the boys do enjoy working with the girls in class.

Make-up classes can be completed within one month of an absence. There is no refund on tuition. Two weeks notice must be given when dropping a class.

Team JDE FAQ's

Participants must have dance experience and are chosen through an audition process.

Dancers must attend both technique and team classes based on level. Because muscle memory requires repetition, competition team dancers will be required to attend classes from 3-4 days or more a week.

Costs include monthly tuition, costume fees, master classes, choreography, competition fees, etc. There may be some costs for travel and/or lodging for competitions outside our area. During the competition season, extra practices may be required.

We try to teach our dancers that competition is only one way to measure their abilities. We send team members to the competitions trained, practiced and confident that they can do their best. We stress teamwork, character development, and work ethic as much as we practice dances. We work on taking care of our bodies with proper fuel and rest so that we can deal with pressures of all kinds, not only the pressures of dance, but of school, friends, and family.

Any student at J.D.E can attend the dance workshops. Jacque’s Dance Expressions attends anywere from two to three workshops a year. Information about workshops are sent out in the J.D.E Newsletter and you may ask for more information at the front counter. Most workshops have an age requirement of 5 years thru 19 years of age. We highly recomend sending dancers to these workshops.

Recital and Performance FAQ's

At Jacque’s Dance Expressions we offer a winter showcase and an end-of-year recital.

It is not a requirement to participate, but is encouraged because participation gives dancers a goal…a way to show off the skills that they have learned during the year.

We have recitals off-site, at the 530 Center. The stage is very familiar and, therefore, comfortable for our younger dancers.
